Nancy Jane Brown b. July 1816/1817 d/o Ezra Brown and 1/w Elizabeth Newell of Ridgefield Twp., Huron Co., Ohio and Melmore, Seneca Co, OH. After death of her mother her father Ezra Brown remarried to widow Sabrina Ransom Parks and moved to California. Nancy Jane Brown married Cyrus Waterman Pope 1840-1843 probably in Janesville, Rock Co., WI., or Dane Co., WI., s/o Dr. Samuel Pope and Freelove Waterman of (Wintonbury) Windsor, Hartford Co., Connecticutt. Freelove Waterman Pope moved to Janesville, Rock Co., WI. Cyrus and Nancy Jane lived in Janesville, WI.; Rutland, Dane Co., WI.; Viroqua, Vernon Co., WI. and Oakwood, Linn Co. Kansas. 1870-1880 lived in Sparta, Monroe Co., WI. Before her death 1881-1886 she was living in Brooksville, Hernando Co., Florida and Jacksonville, Duvall Co., Florida.

Due to Cyrus's health they moved to Brooksville, Hernando Co., Florida from 1881-1886. Nancy Jane Brown Pope died most likely in Brooksville, Hernando Co., Florida or Duval Co., FL. No burial information in Brooksville Cemetery. Family rumor the children were upset that the father did not bring the body of their mother back to Wisconsin for burial. I. May (Jenkins) Noringseth in 1978 visited her Millard cousins and they said: she was buried in Jacksonville, Duval Co., Florida. I believe it was Brooksville, Hernando Co., Fl., because of Cyrus W. Pope buying and selling land there. (dwebb)
Cyrus W. Pope returned to Sparta, Wi., in 1886 not completing payment on land in Brooksville.
A judgement in Hernando County was issued for none payment 4 June, 1887.
I think Nancy Jane died 1885-1886 time frame. Due to warm
weather conditions and low income Cyrus probably buried her within three days of her death. I had lady go out to the Brookville Cemetery largest in area and check for a tombstone and no tombstone or burial found. She is most likely an unmarked grave.
