Tahlequah, OK- Funeral services for Linda Jean Mankiller-Sanchez will be held on Monday. June 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Gassaway officiating. Interment will follow at Echota Cemetery in Adair County, OK. Services have been entrusted to Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Pallbearers for Linda include Aaron Swake, Kellen Quinton, Vernon Williamson, Jake Mankiller, Ronald Elk, and Peter Case. Honorary Pallbearer will be Daniel Bearpaw. Flower girls are Ashley Case, Elizabeth Case, Adrian Birdsong, and Allison Birdsong. Linda Jean Sanchez was born on January 13th, 1949 in Tahlequah, OK the daughter of Charley and Clara Irene (Sitton) Mankiller. There were eleven children total. Linda attended college then settled down to raise her family of two daughters and two sons. Linda worked for the State of Oklahoma as a Clerk with the Tax Commission. Spare time was spent reading, swimming, playing cards, and sharing time with her family. Linda was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor. She was thoughtful, kind, and generous to all she knew. Every person she met was special and treated as if she had known them for years. She gathered with her family on most occasions to share a meal and precious family time together. Linda was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, June 9th, 2011 in Tulsa, OK with her family at her side. She was sixty-two years old. Her loving heart and sweet smile will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her father, Charley, two brothers Robert and Johnny Mankiller, and her sister, Wilma Mankiller. Those left to mourn her passing include her four children, Christine Case and husband Peter of Manti, UT, DeAnna Birdsong of Tulsa, OK, Joseph Sanchez and wife Carla of Tulsa, OK, and Mitchell John of Tahlequah, OK. She also leaves her mother, Clara Irene Mankiller, and seven brothers and sisters, Donald Mankiller and wife vena of Stilwell, OK, Richard Mankiller and companion Sandra Blackwell of Oklahoma City, James Mankiller and his wife, Lula Elk of Tahlequah, OK, Bill Mankiller and wife Annette of Stilwell, OK, Freida Mullins of Stilwell,OK, Frances Willingham of Tahlequah, OK, and Vanessa Mankiller of Stilwell , OK. Linda's legacy lives on in her fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces. nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
