John (Johnny) David Mankiller was the son of Charley and Irene Mankiller; he had the following siblings: Don and spouse Lavena Mankiller; James Mankiller and wife Lula Elk; William Mankiller and wife Annette; Richard Mankiller of Tahlequah; Vanessa Mankiller, Frieda Mankiller Mullins, Linda Mankiller Sanchez; Frances Willingham and spouse Bob, and Wilma Mankiller and spouse Charlie Soap; and preceded in death by a brother Robert Mankiller.

He married Celia; he had the following children: 4 sons: David Mankiller of San Francisco; Kermit Mankiller, John David (J.D.) Lowman and Robert Lowman; and 2 daughters: Rene Mankiller Sanchez and Lisa Mankiller.

He spent 12 years of his life in the Rocky Mountain Community in rural Adair Co., OK; in 1955 his family moved to San Francisco where he attended Balboa High School and became involved in several lsports which included football and baseball. He became an avid and skilled baseball player and pitcher with dazzling speed and accuracy.

He served in the 101st Airborne Divison, Special Forces, of the US Army and loved jumping out of airplanes.

He lived most of his life in San Francisco, but was laid to rest in the Echota Cemetery near his childhood home in the Rocky Mountain Community in Adair Co., OK.
