On May 7, 2010, five days before her 100th birthday, F. Inda Phillips joined her husband, George Phillips, and her daughter, Linda Riggs, in heaven. Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Curt (Doris) and Wendell Phillips, her grandchildren, Terry, Jay, Lori Lynn, Brandi Phillips, Wendi Darby, and Richard Riggs; her sisters, Hazel Eggers, Hope Limmer, Gertrude Westendorf; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers Leonard and Malcolm Schliemann and sisters Iva Huse, Violet Duimstra, and Helen Rhodes.

Inda was born May 12, 1910 in Hartford, SD to Lulu (Irish) and Carl Schliemann. She married George Phillips on October 27, 1934 in Rural Valley Springs, SD. It is fitting that Inda's life will be celebrated at the conclusion of National Teacher's Week, as she spent more than 25 years as a teacher in many schools in the Valley Springs and Hartford areas as well as in Gustine, California for over 17 years. Inda enjoyed hearing from her many friends and former students over the years and reveled in the success of loved ones. She was active in a Bible study group for many years in Hartford after her retirement. Inda's love of learning and words led to several generations of Scrabble players.
