Helen Schliemann Rhodes, 80, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1991.

Helen Schliemann was born near Hartford, South Dakota. She attended Hartford schools and graduated from Lyons High School. She worked for the Hartford Herald, the School for the Deaf in Sioux Falls, and the state hospital in Yankton.

She married Howard Rhodes on June 30, 1934, in Sioux Falls. They moved to California and later to Portland, Oregon, where she was a homemaker and helped her husband remodel homes and sell them. Her husband died in 1988.

Helen was a member and officer of the Tops Club. She moved to Royal Marc in the summer of 1991.

Survivors in include one brother, Malcolm of Sioux Falls; and five sisters: Haze (Earl) Eggers, Gertrude (Earl) Westendorf, and Hope (Harold) Limmer, all of Sioux Falls; Inda Phillips of Hartford, and Violet Duimstra of Alcester.

Services were held in Oregon and a private memorial service was held later in Sioux Falls.
