He was born in 1902 as Oscar Leep in Chicago. His parents are gardner Oscar Leepe, 28 y (Anne Klazes, Andrew K., Arnold, Oscar Leep), born on 2 july 1874 in St. Annaparochie, Het Bildt, Friesland, Nederland), and Sarah DuVries (Sara de Vries, born in 1875 in Dantumadeel, Friesland, Nederland).

In 1910 Harry (8 y) lived with his parents Oscar (35 y) and Sarah (34 y) Leep and his, all in Illinois born, siblings Nicholas (9 y), Julian (6 y), Therisa (4 y), Edwin (2 y) and Clara (2 m), in Chicago, ward 32.

In 1911 Harry's family Leep emigrated to the former Dutch settlement Cramersburg in the southwestern part of the Canadian south central province Saskatchewan. His mother Sarah died there in February 1916 at the age of 40 years. In 1916 Harry (14 y), his father and widower Andrew (40 y), three brothers, four sisters and grandmother Clara Leep (66 y) were administrated in Maple Creek, about 70 miles southwest of Cramersburg, in Saskatchewan too.
His father Andrew remarried in March 1918 in Saskatchewan to the ten years younger Catharina Maria Elisabeth (Katie) Otto.

Animal diseases, coldness, dust bowls, drought, grasshopper invasions, several successive crop failures and low grain prices caused them to leave Canada and in 1921 the family moved to Shepherd, Yellowstone County, Montana, where the family stayed for about five years.

On 22 February 1928 Harry married in Manhattan, Gallatin County, in the southwestern part of Montana, at the age of 25 years to the four years younger Edith Alberda, who had Dutch parents too.

In 1940 farmer Harry Leep (38 y) lived with his wife Edith (33 y) and their children Andrew (11 y), Clara (10 y), Willard J (8 y), Arlene S (6 y), Elizabeth J (3 y) and Lois (1 y) at a rented farm in the Dutch settlement Holland on the Godfrey Canyon Road, Gallatin County, Montana. Some farms further on that road same road lived Harry's father-in-law William Alberda and his brother-in-law Jacob Alberda and their families.

Harry and Edith had 12 children: Andrew (1929 Bozeman, Gallatin, MT - 2013 Four Corners, Gallatin, MT), Willard, Eldon, Jerry, Claire, Arlene, Betty, Carolyn (1948-1988), Lois, Mary Ann, Dorothy and David Leep (1952 Manhattan, Gallatin, MT -2009 Mt Vernon, WA).

Harry was living in Manhattan when his stepmother Katherine Leep died in March 1950, survived by his father Andrew.

Harry died in 1983 in Manhattan at the age of 80 years, since 1979 widower of Edith.
