WHITE

Guy Junior White was born in Lucas County on April 26, 1928, to Guy Chalmers and Cora Florence White and died unexpectedly at Iowa Methodist Medical Center on July 9, 1992.

August 31, 1951 was a special day in Guy's life as he was united in marriage to Marlene Viola Metz. To their union, three children were born, Guy Harold, Kevin Elihu and Curtis Bruce.

In 1952, he started White Electric Service and operated the company until 1986 when he underwent his second open-heart surgery and suffered three strokes. After a long period of physical therapy, he improved his speech and regained most of the use of his left arm. Guy had a very positive outlook on life, he never gave up. The electrical business never left Guy's thoughts and the word "retirement" was never in Guy's vocabulary.

Guy loved and was dedicated to his family all of his life. He was president of Little League and managed the Bombers minor league and the Bruins and Bears major league when his sons were playing ball. Also during his life he had been a member of the National Guard, president of Chariton Community Builders and a member of the Lions Club.

The last six years, Guy had the time to enjoy his grandchildren and family. He never missed a softball game, a T-ball game, school plays, band concerts, dance recitals, or any occasion his granddaughters were involved with. "PoPo," as he was called, was always there. The last two years were especially wonderful, not only could Guy participate with his granddaughters, he had a new grandson who carried his middle name, Junior.

Guy spent many hours tending to his prize tomato plants, roses and lilacs this spring and summer and he enjoyed visiting with his neighbors as well as doing any activity outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing and boating or participating with church activities at the First Baptist Church where he was member. Guy loved his church.

Those surviving are his wife, Marlene; son Kevin and family, Dina and Dylan; son Bruce and family, Connie, Tisha and Lindsey and one loving and faithful dog, Elizabeth. Also surviving are a sister Gladys and brother-in-law, R.K. Street of Humeston, brother-in-law Kenneth Hatfield, nieces and nephews including Calvin Hatfield and family of Glenview, Ill.; Evelyn Kretchmar and family of Libertyville, Ill.; Jackie Krutsinger and family of Melrose; Janie Head and family of Aurora, Mo. and his 100 year old uncle, Ernest Hennerdosse of Indianola, as well as numerous cousins and many, many friends. He will be deeply missed.

Guy was preceded in death by an infant son, Guy Harold, his parents, Guy and Cora, and a sister, Nadine Hatfield.
