OBITUARY

FORMER CITY BANKER SUMMERS BENNETT DIES

Memorial services will be announced later for H. Summers Bennett. Wesley Garden Retirement Home, Des Moines, who died Monday following a massive cerebral hemorrhage. He was 77.

Formerly with the Auburn branch of National Bank of Washington, Mr. Bennett was born in Arkansas in 1893 and moved to Washington in 1913. He began his banking career in Bridgeport State Bank, Bridgeport. From 1920 to 1924 he was the state bank examiner. He went to Chehalis with Coffman-Dobson State Bank which merged with the National Bank of Washington.

He was vice president of the bank in Auburn from 1939 to 1958, when he retired. He and his wife then moved to Des Moines.

He was a past master of the Masonic Lodge, Auburn, a 50 year Mason, member of the Shrine, an officer of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; one son, Carrel, Estacada, Ore., and one grandson, David, Seattle.

The Rev. Robert Waller will officiate at the memorial service withe the Rev. Willard Stanton assisting. There will be cremation. The family requests any memorials be sent to the Wesley Garden Memorial Fund.
