"Lillie Bennett married John R. Rose in Springdale, Washington County, Arkansas, on February 5, 1905. Both were living in Springdale, and the marriage ceremony was performed by B. M. Burrow. John was 23 and Lillie was 19. (It must have been some shindig, since it's not every day a lily becomes a rose!) John worked as a banker, and the Roses raised four children. The family lived in a house in the country, and the property apparently had room for both a persimmon grove and their horse named 'Fannie'. The family must have enjoyed many waffles made from a long-handled cast iron waffle iron on their old wook cook stove. The family also owned their very own player piano and phonograph!"
