Father is quiet, unassuming and retiring in his nature. He is cool, calm and deliberate. Had he been a lawyer, he would have made one of the best judges in the world. He never gossiped, nor did he allow us to do so in his presence. He never spoke I'll of his neighbor's, nor of anyone else. Father stands high not only in this immediate neighborhood, but wherever his was known. Father was a good story teller and in the evening when the day's work and chores were done on the farm he would gather us children around the fireplace. He would talk about the early settlers, the indian's and trappers. He was our Santa Claus at Christmas time and fill our stocking with things that pleased our childish fancies. Father was a hard worker and great home body. His life has been given in the service of his home and his family.
