Mother is energetic, vivacious and animating. She is the most alert woman I ever saw. Nothing escapes her notice. She needed only the circumstances in the case to predict with certainty what we would do. You could not deceive her. She was more easily approached than Father, but more severe in her criticisms. Her constant service, self sacrifice and devotion to this family is to me something perfectly wonderful. She has never had a leisure moment since her first child was born. Toil, care, anxiety and responsibility have ever been upon her. She has cared for all our known ailments and sickness. I would rather have her in a ordinary case of sicknesses than any physician I know of. She looked into the future and observed what was needed, and then she laid her plans to meet these necessities. She has ever been the moving spirit in the progress of the family.
