Struck by lightening with grandmother - article in newspaper.

Danville, IL Daily News, Tuesday, July 23, 1895

Killed By Lightening

During the storm Saturday afternoon lightening struck the house of William Jackson, one mile east of Indianola, and killed Mr. Jackson's son, seven years of age, and the child's grandmother, aged 72, upon whose lap the little boy was sitting. The bolt struck the chimney, ran down the roof to the eaves, thence to the ground, tearing away a large section of the side of the house near which the grandmother and little boy were sitting.
Mrs. Jackson, who was in the same room with them, was badly shocked and was unconscious for some time; when she regained consciousness, she was horrified to find the dead bodies of her mother and child lying on the floor.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the house and were largely attended.
The grandmother almost idolized her grandchild, and it is said often made the remark if he should die she, too, would die.
