Metta Burks was the daughter of George Robert Burks and 2. Martha Ellen "Mattie" Allen, granddaughter of Mastin Milton Burks and Martha Jane Sanders and great-granddaughter of John Brinkley Burks and 1. Temperence Evans. She married Odis Elmer Floyd on Nov. 25, 1931, in Marietta, Oklahoma; they celebrated their Golden Anniversary. They were the parents of four daughters, LaDell, Martha Sue, Betty Ann and Patricia Floyd.
