Floyd was the son of George Robert Burks and 1. Melissa Jane Boyett, grandson of Mastin Milton Burks and Martha Jane Sanders and gr-grandson of Brinkley Burks and 1. Temperence Evans, of China Grove, Alabama. After the death of Melissa, George married 2. Martha Ellen "Mattie" Allen, who raised his children with love as she did her very own. The boys loved her as they would their mother. Floyd married 1. Ella Birdie Alexander on Sept. 1, 1923 in Quitman, Jackson Parish, Louisiana. The George R. Burks Family lived at Danville, Bienville Parish, LA (now it is known as Lucky, LA) for a few years ca 1920. He was one of the largest landowners there, having about 400 acres. It is now called Burk Place. Children: Olan Cecil, Alma Lavada, Chester Eugene, Barney Lee and Floyd Edward Burks. Floyd married 2. Myrtle Thornburgh in 1955 in east Texas. They had no children.
