Robert (my uncle) was the son of George Robert Burks and 1. Melissa Jane Boyett; grandson of Mastin Milton Burks and Martha Jane Sanders; great-grandson of John Brinkley Burks and Temperence Evans. He married Myrtle "Myrtie" Jewell McLemore in 1914 in Van Zandt Co., Texas. She was the daughter of John S. McLemore and Melbrie H. McDougal. They were the parents of three daughters, Oleta, Una Lorene and Lessie Marie Burks. The family left Van Zandt Co., Texas around 1935 and went to Los Angeles Co., Calif., because of Robert's health.
