Rominger was the eldest of eight known children of Charles (went by Carl) William Rominger (1810-1897) and his second known wife, Mary Ann Walter Miksch (1812-1894), who married 29 Jan 1838 at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Carl first married to Fannie Holston (1811-1837) on 08 Feb 1833 at Bartholomew County, Indiana and they had two known children, both of whom died young. Mary was first married to Christian Augustus (or August?) Miksch (1812-???) on 29 Mar 1834 at Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Mary and Christian were the parents of one known child.
Emeline married Samuel Henry Dodd (1832-1909) on 08 May 1857 at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Emeline and Samuel were the parents of seven known children, namely:
1. Mariah Hettie Dodd (1858-1862)
2. John W. Dodd (1860-1928)
3. Darius Walter Dodd (1862-1940)
4. Thomas Orrin Dodd (1864-1947)
5. Charles R. Dodd (1871-1940)
6. Katherine (Kathryn?) Martha Dodd Essex (1877-1964)

Mrs. Emeline Dodd, eighty-four years old, one of the oldest residents of the county, passed away this morning at 5 o'clock at the home of her son, John Dodd, in Hope, her death being due to old age, and came after a several weeks' illness.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at Old St. Louis, with burial in the Old St. Louis Cemetery.
Mrs. Dodd was a life-long resident of the county having been born and reared in the neighborhood where she died. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rominger, pioneer settlers of the county. In early life she was united in marriage to Mr. Dodd who preceded her in death fourteen years ago. Mrs. Dodd was a life-long member of the Hope Methodist Church, and was an active worker in church circles for many years, and as long as her health permitted. She was a most highly esteemed woman, and greatly beloved by all who knew her.
Surviving are four sons, John Dodd with whom she made her home, D. W. Dodd of Hope, Thomas O. Dodd of St. Louis Crossing, Charles Dodd of Eldorado Springs, Missouri, and one daughter, Mrs. Lex Essex of Near Edinburg. There are also two brothers, Charles Rominger of Hope and Lewis Rominger of near Hope, and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Essex of Hope and Mrs. Ella Hornaday of McEwen, Kansas.
