Mary Ann Walter was the eldest of nine known children of Joseph Walter (1789-1846) and Anna Luckenbach (1787-1848), who married c1811 in presumably Pennsylvania.

Mary was first married to Christian Augustus (went by Augustus) Miksch (b. 25 Oct 1812 at Nazareth, Pennsylvania, d. 10 Aug 1837 at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana) on 29 Mar 1834 at Nazareth, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Soon after the family moved to Bartholomew County, Indiana where Augustus started a tannery. Mary and Augustus were the parents of one known child, namely:

1. Theophilus Walter Miksch (1836-1836)

Mary remarried to the widower Charles (went by Carl) William Rominger (1810-1897) on 29 Jan 1838 at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Carl had two children by his first wife, Fannie Holston (1811-1837), who married on 08 Feb 1833 at Bartholomew County, Indiana. Both of these children died young. Mary and Carl were the parents of eight known children, namely:

2. Emeline E. Rominger Dodd (1839-1923)
3. Amanda H. Rominger Parks (1841-1919)
4. Thomas W. Rominger (1843-1918)
5. Minerva (Nerva) Louise Rominger Collins (1844-1916)
6. Mary Ella Rominger Hornaday (1847-1937)
7. Lewis Taylor Rominger (1849-1936)
8. Martha A. Evangeline Rominger Essex (1853-1946)
9. Charles A. Rominger (1856-1932)

Why is the date 1902 at the bottom of the Rominger tombstone? Is the death date for Carl or Mary incorrect?

Links to Mary's parents, both of her known husbands, eight of her nine known children and six of her eight known siblings are included below.
