Born Sept 18, 1897, in Fairview, Quincy Township, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and
Edith (Wade) Monn. She was a lifelong resident of Quincy Township. In her early life, she was employed at the Mont Alto Shirt Factory. She and her husband, Walter L. Mentzer, were married Dec. 24, 1917. Mr. Mentzer died April 23, 1975.
Mrs. Mentzer entered the nursing home June 15, 1989. She is survived by three daughters, Gladys George, a resident of Wynbrier Retirement Home in Waynesboro; Edna Mohn, a resident of
Shank's Retirement Home in Greencastle; and Betty Helman of Waynesboro, and two sons, Daniel Mentzer of South Mountain and Gene Mentzer of Quincy. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Tressie Bryan of Waynesboro.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley Mentzer and Rosalie Brown; two grandsons,
Daniel Mentzer and Harris Brown; six sisters; and three brothers.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with Pastor John F.
Huff officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy.
