Mrs. Dowell was born in Washington Co and was educated in Benton County. In 1921 she was married to Claude Dowell and she and her husband farmed in Gilboa Township 40 years. She was a member of the United Brethren Church in Otterbein.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lois Cooper of Goodland; four sons, Erman of Macy, William and Robert, both of Lafayette, and Paul of Remington; three sisters, Mrs. Olive Hopkins of Linden, Miss Leva Thompson of Mellott and Miss Lula Thompson of Logansport; five brothers, Merle Thompson of Connersville, Victor Thompson of Mellott, Lee Thompson of Oolitic, Lynn Thompson of Waynetown and Raymond Thompson of Attica. [Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, David, Patti, Vic, Junior, Vonda, Cathy, Karen, Becky, Bobby, Beverly, Mary, Madonna, Tammy, and Dickie.]
