REMINGTON - Claude Dowell, 65, a Remington farmer, died in his Gilboa Township home southeast of here Wednesday, April 19, 1961. He had been ill just a few weeks. Born in Brown County, he was a veteran of World War I. In 1918 he married Ada M. Thompson; she survives. He was a member of the American Legion. Surviving with the widow are four sons, Erman of Logansport; William and Robert of Lafayette, and Paul of Remington; a daughter, Lois (Mrs. Wayne) Cooper of Goodland; his mother, Mrs. Mary Dowell of Helmsburg; four sisters, Mrs. Ivy Kelp and Mrs. Alice Roberts of Nashville, IN, Mrs. Bertha Eaton and Mrs. Bessie Riley of Valparaiso; and five brothers, Henry of Helmsburg, Millard of Otterbein, Delmas of Phoenix, AZ; and Roy and Wilson of Lafayette; also surviving are 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty Jane; and his father, William S. Dowell.
