JOSEPH BISHARA
This community was saddened by the loss of a valued citizen in the death of Joseph Bishara, well known Yarmouth South business man, which occurred Sunday night, March 3rd, 1946.

Mr. Bishara was born in Mount Lebanon 58 years ago. He came to this country at the age of 14 years and for many years he has been a familiar figure at Yarmouth South, where he conducted his business. He was well known among Yarmouth County sportsmen for he was an ardent follower of the hunting and fishing game.

His loss will be keenly felt by the local Canadian Lebanon Club, of which he was one of the founders, for it was in the home of the deceased that the first meeting of the organization was held some years ago. He was prominently active in the advancement of his Club and took a most active part in the construction of the present up-to-date Club quarters. The full attendance of the members of the Canadian Lebanon Club also the presence of relatives and friends from many points in the Maritimes, rendered an impressive tribute to the memory of the deceased.

The funeral procession from the late Mr. Bishara's residence was exceptionally long. The arrangements under the direction of the vice-president of the C.L.C. was most impressive. The remains were carried by the following pallbearers: Don Nichols, Edward Boudreau, Albert Holmes, George Allen, Joseph Sapp and F. Emin. A guard of honor of men in uniform accompanied the casket; Sgt. George Richardson, R.C.A.F.; Sgt. George Wakin, R.C.A.F.; Pte. Taft Wallace and the Pte. Fred Moulaison. Walking directly behind the deceased was Mr.l Sam Nichols, president of the Canadian Lebanon Club, carrying a large wreath followed by the members of the Club, bearing some fifty wreaths and forming a passage for the mourners
to pass through. The same procedure was followed at the Central United Church where services were conducted by Rev. C.L. Blanchard, who was Chaplain of the 112th Battalion in which the late Mr. Bishara served from 1914-1918.

Interment was in Mountain Cemetery, where impressive burial services were held, accompanied by the sounding of the Last Post by Bugler Charles Cussick.

Surviving the deceased are his wife, five sons: David, Douglas, Wilfred, Stanley and Malcolm, and one daughter Louise, all at home. Four brothers also survive; Edward, Thomas, Louis and John of Saint John.
