The death of Edward J. Beshara, 51 Courtenay Ave., Saint John East, occurred at the Saint John General Hospital Monday.

Born in Saint John, a son of the late George and Mary (Joseph) Beshara, he was a stationary engineer in the Post Office Department for over 23 years. He had retired in 1963 and since that time served with the Corps of Commissionaires. He was a Veteran of the First World War, having enlisted with the 64th Battalion and served in France with the 26th Battalion. He received the British War and Victory Medals. He was a member of Hampton Branch No 28, Royal Canadian Legion, and a member of the 26th Overseas Club.

He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Elizabeth Hunt; six daughters, Mrs. Harold Hodgin, Hampton, Mrs. Ruth Panasuk, East Saint John, Mrs. William Wickborne, Saint John, Mrs. James Norton, Ottawa, Mrs. Laurie Blanchard, Halifax, and Mrs. Albert Thibodeau, Saint John; four sons, George, Gondola Point, Leonard A., and Ronald, Saint John and Edward J. Jr., East Riverside; one foster sister, Mrs. Michael Gordon, Windsor Ont.; one brother, Louis, Toronto; 26 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Resting at the Calvin Funeral Home, 91 Leinster St., from where the funeral will be held Thursday at 8:40 a.m. to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for high mass of requiem at 9 o'clock. Interment will take place in the Rural Cemetery, Hampton
