First Syrian Coming to Saint John Succumbs.
George Bishara, for 50 years a resident of Saint John and the first Syrian to come to the city from Mount Lebanon, passed away yesterday. He had won the respect and friendship of the people in the community in which he had resided for so long and was beloved by his own people.

The devotion of the family to the British cause was shown in that two of Mr. Bishara's sons and one brother gave their lives in the Great War.

Besides his wife, Mr. Bishara leaves six sons, Joseph, in Yarmouth, N.S.; and Charles, Thomas,Edward, John and Louis, in Saint John; a daughter, Miss Mary I., at home; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 8 a.m. from his residence, 73 Erin Street, to the Cathedral for
solemn high mass of requiem, with office at 8:30 o'clock and mass at 9 o'clock.
