He was the son of James A. and Alice Billings Dochterman and had spent most of his life in Clark County.
Preston was united in marriage to Lucile Thompson in 1937. To this union were born 4 children, James R., Allen E., Carol E., and Joyce E., all at home.
Surviving are his wife, children, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Dochterman of Luray, four brothers, Otho Dochterman of Luray, Clarence of Wyaconda, John Henry and Robert W. of Granger, three sisters: Mrs. William Waters of Wyaconda, Mrs. Edgar Hawkins of Milan, Illinois and Mrs. Alvin Brotherton of Luray and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held from the Gutting Funeral Chapel, Saturday January 15, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Golden of the Christian Church conducting the service.
Mrs. Otis Gutting sang with Miss Darlene Peterson at the piano.
Pallbearers were: Arly Brooks, Russell Walker, Lloyd Nixon, Frank Groves, Virgil Kearns, Sr. and Harry Kearns.
Flower girls were Mrs. Glen Sears, Mrs. Rolla Sears, Mrs. Fred Brown, and Mrs. William Brown.
Internment was made in the Combs Cemetery at Luray, Missouri.
