Funeral services were held October 26 for Everette Franklin, 71, who died October 25 en route to Houston Hospital. Interment was at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jack Inmon presiding.
Franklin was the son of Benjamin Franklin and Lavanna Ausley. He was a retired sawmill owner and a member of the Midway Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Inez McCluney Franklin of Houston. Other survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Daphna Shempert of Houlka, Mrs. Lynette Collums of Jackson, Mrs. Clara Chapman of Memphis, Mrs. Hilda Jernigan, Mrs. Alice Blue, Mrs. Rose Haire, Mrs. Vannie Lacket, all of Houston; one brother, Randolph Franklin of Pyland; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
