Houston – Inez McCluney Franklin, 87, died Saturday, March 3, 2001 of heart failure at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston. Services were held Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at Houston First Baptist Church with the Rev. Al Gaspard and Dr. Gregg Thomas officiating. Burial was in Chickasaw Memorial Gardens. Houston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Franklin was the daughter of the late Joseph Lester and Myra McCluney. She was a homemaker and a member of Houston First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Franklin, who passed away October 25, 1978.

Survivors include seven daughters, Hilda Jernigan and husband, Paul, of Houston, Alice Blue and husband, Billy, of Houston, Rose Haire and husband, Wayne, of Houston, Vannie Tacket of Houston, Daphna Shempert and husband, Billy, of Houlka, Lynette Collums of Woodland and Clara Chapman and husband, William of Bartlett, Tennessee; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bubba Blue, Dobie Poyner, Danny Williams, Heath Williams, Curt Jernigan and Jeff Chamblee.
