Alice is survived by her niece and nephew that she raised as her very own children, Tammy (Jeff) Chamblee and James Blue- both of Houston; 5 grandchildren, Steve Chamblee (Felicia), Jenna Grace Earnest (Robert), Taylor Blue, Baylous Blue (Courtney), and Preston Blue. She also leaves to cherish her memory 7 great grandchildren who gave her much joy in her final months. Alice is survived by three of her sisters, Rose (Wayne) Haire and Lynette Collums of Houston, and Daphna Shempert of Houlka; a sister-n-law, Mary (Dean) Holder of Houston and two brothers-n-law, Paul Jernigan of Houston and William Chapman. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces and nephews: Vicky (Scott) Lichtenegger, Denise Tubb, Curt (Glenda) Jernigan, Keith (Margaret) Jernigan, Joey (Crystal) Haire, Frank (Angela) Tackett, Regina Tackett, Felicia Collums, Anita (Joe) Loftin, Angie (Rick) Moss, Chad (Jennifer) Shempert, Chris (Samantha) Shempert, Betty Lou (Jahu) Faulkner, Wib (Ronja) Lancaster, Charles (Connie) Lancaster, Judy (Gary) McQuary, Van (Ruthie) Blue, Valda (Sam) Newman, Tim (Tricia) Finn, Johnny (Linda) Blue as well as a host of great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, William C. (Billy) Blue, her sisters, Hilda, Vannie, and Clara, her sisters-n-law Lavonia Lancaster, Scottie Allen, her brothers-n-laws Curtis Collums, Billy Shempert, HE Blue, Buddy Blue, and Sam Blue as well as many other family and friends.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Houston Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday night from 5-7 and Friday at the church from 10-11. The funeral will be Friday at 11am at the Houston First Methodist Church. Pallbearers are Curtis Jernigan, Frank Tackett, Chris Shempert, Van Blue, Johnny Blue, and Tim Finn. Brother David Upshaw and Brother Mike Childs will preside over the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Houston First Methodist church, St. Jude or the charity of your choice.
