Mrs. Mabel Josephine Boggess, 85, died Thursday evening, May 26 [1977] at her home north of New Hampton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, May 31, at two o'clock from the Larkin-Martin Funeral Chapel New Hampton with Dr. C. Raymond Reed of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. John Kolthoff was organist and Jack Kendall was soloist.

Interment was at the Chickasaw Cemetery with grandson, Jim Boggess, Eugene Griffin, Charles Schmitt, Richard Hauser, David Thoe and Bruce Boggess as casket bearers.

Mabel Frazee was born February 20, 1892 in Chickasaw County, the daughter of John and Catherine Frazee. She attended schools of the area and was married to Calvin Boggess on March 8 1910 at Charles City. They farmed in the New Hampton area after their marriage.

Mrs. Boggess is survived by five sons, Elmer of Knox, Ind., Vern of Waterloo, Wendell of Rudd, Leonard and Harley of Charles City; five daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Lillian) Schmitt of Marble Rock, Mrs. Joe (Clarinda) Thoe of Charles City, Mrs. Alfred (Grace) Griffin of Charles City, Maybelle Boggess of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Mrs. Sam (Gertrude) Hauser of New Hampton, 35 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967; three sons, Lawrence, Melvin and John; two brothers, Harvey and Onie Frazee, and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Hamilton and Mrs. Rennie Boggess. (New Hampton Tribune, New Hampton, IA, June 2, 1977)
