At Mennonite Church - Of Men From Prime of Life - All Victims of Accidents
CLEOPHAS LEHMAN
After about 2 1/2 years of patient and at times excruciating suffering from the results of a fall from a tree which paralyzed his back, Cleophas Lehman in Wabash township was mercifully released by the death angel last Saturday noon. He was born in the Bernese Jura, Switzerland, January 14, 1872, and thus was plucked from the prime of life at the age of 38 years, 8 months, 17 days. In spring 1894 he immigrated to America, coming to this place, where several of his brothers and sisters were living. On Oct. 24, 1905, he was married to Miss Emma Kneuss and thereafter lived on her parental farm. Two children were born to this union. About 2 1/2 years ago he fell from a tree, which he was cleaning, alighting on his shoulders and paralyzing his back, from which time he has been a helpless invalid until his death. He leaves, besides his widow and two small children, a stepmother and three sisters in Switzerland, and four sisters and two brothers here, all living in and around Berne. Funeral services take place this forenoon from his home and at 9:30 at the Mennonite church, of which he was a faithful member
