Sewell was born in Bridgeton, Cumberland County, New Jersey on Mar. 18, 1875 to George and Charlotte (Rogers) Albright.

He lived with his family in Philadelphia his early life. Then at age 15, he can be seen listed in the Camden City Directory as living with his older brother, Charles' family, and working in the "A.R. Albright" family drug store in Camden located on the corner of Central Ave. and Kossuth St.

The New York state census in 1892 shows him to have moved to Brooklyn, and living with his mother and two sisters, Josephine and Charlotte. His occupation in Brooklyn was listed as "clerk".

He married Mary Probst in 1897, and they had a sons, Joseph in 1900, William in 1901 and George in 1904. Sadly, Joseph died before 1905, and Mary died in 1906. George, died only months after his mother and is buried at the same gravesite in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Son William was placed in the care of Mary's mother, Mary J. Trautvetter, who was a widow residing in Newark, New Jersey as seen in the 1910 census.

Sewell enlisted in the Army in Philadelphia in September 1909. His enlistment papers showed his occupation as a "drug store clerk" and a physical description of having blue eyes, light brown hair, fair complexion, and being 5' 6.5" tall. He was stationed in the Philippines from January 1910 to January 1911, and was in the US Army Philippines Hospital as listed in the 1910 census. It is not certain if he was working there in his Hospital Corp assignment or there for an illness. In December of that year, he received orders for transfer back to the United States for "additional treatment" at the New Mexico army hospital at Fort Bayard.

Soon after, he was discharged (with disability) from the Army as a sergeant grade with an excellent service performance rating, on Apr. 13, 1911.

He was remarried to Lois May Miller on Apr. 27, 1911, and sometime in this time period, had moved to Sebring, Florida, when the township was first being developed.

The story is that Sewell had a building in Sebring in which he operated a bookstore, drug store and maybe even barber shop services. It is also told that he was briefly an editor of a newspaper that went to print maybe only once.

He died less than two years later in Sebring of tuberculosis, at the age of 38, in 1913. He was in fact the first person to be buried in Sebring. When his grandson was looking for his gravesite in the 50's, they spoke to an old man who sat on his front porch and shared stories and photos with them. That man told them that Sewell chose his gravesite (... so he must have known he was dying), and he chose it under a great oak tree. The tree had since been cut down, but they found the stump and used that as a point of reference to find the grave.
