Josephine was born to George and Charlotte (Rogers) Albright in Philadelphia in 1869.

She spent her life as a leader in the Salvation Army.

Josephine and her mother were among the first to greet the Salvationists with Commissioner Railton. Her two older sisters, Amelia and Anna, were among the first American born Salvation Army officers.

She was converted in July of 1888 and was commissioned an officer on Mar. 12, 1890. She achieved the rank of Lt Colonel and held the important position of the Divisional Commander of the Dixie Division.

Her duties with Salvation Army would have her residing in Philadelphia and Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

She was living in Sebring, Florida when she retired from from her Salvation Army position in Jan. 1, 1926. She later returned to Philadelphia where she resided at 5131 N. Sydenham St., listed in the 1940 census as a "Retired Salvation Army Officer". She was living there with four other women who were working as officers for the Salvation Army. At the time of her death in 1956, she was in Pleasantville, New Jersey. She was 87 years old.

Josephine was buried in the Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, New York where other notable Salvation offiicers are buried as well, including friends, Maude L. Hazelwood and Anna Blackburn.
