Margaret V. "Peggy" Garrett, 64, of Hanover died at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 1995, at Hanover General Hospital. She was the wife of Nevin Garrett.
Born Dec 3, 1930, in Gettysburg, she was a daughter of the late Simon Hess and Emma Jane (Pitzer) Beard.
She was a member of St. David's Evangelical Lutheran Church and had been employed by South Western School District for 22 years prior to her retirement.
Surviving also are a son, Nevin Garrett Jr. of Winfield, Pa.; a granddaughter; seven brothers, Roy Beard of Littlestown, Robert Beard and Francis Beard, both of New Oxford, Raymond Beard of York, Kenneth Beard of Thomasville, Thomas Beard of Spring Grove, and Fred Beard of Baltimore, Md. and five sisters, Viola Haines of Taneytown, Goldie Boyd of Littlestown, Shelby Forbes of Hanover, Shirley Bonner of Westminster and Helen Toporzycki of Baltimore, Md.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Simon H. Beard Jr., Irvin Beard, William H. Beard and John E. Beard.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. David's Evangelical Lutheran Church 1032 Musselman Road, Hanover, with the Rev Kevin Shivley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
