Robert J. Beard, 93, died Saturday, March 16, 2019, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Teresa A. (Poist) Beard.

Robert was born April 12, 1925, in Adams Co., the son of the late Simon H. and Emma J. (Pitzer) Beard.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII, with the 553rd Military Police Escort Guard, and retired from York Building Products in 1987. He was a charter member of the National WWII Museum, and a life member of the Littlestown V.F.W. He was an avid reader and was well known for his carpentry and woodworking.

Robert is survived by two daughters, Lisa A. Smith and her husband Eugene, and Lori J. Smith, all of Hanover, five grandchildren, Timothy Smith, Sara Stees, Matthew Smith, Daniel Smith, and Rebecca Myers, ten great grandchildren, five sisters, and four brothers. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Joseph Smith, five brothers, John, Roy, Irvin, William and Thomas Beard, and a sister, Margaret Garrett.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 1 PM, at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford. Burial will be private. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:30 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
