Roy N. Beard, of Littlestown, dparted this life March 25.

He was the son of the late Simon H. and Emma Jane (Pitzer) Beard.

Mr. Beard was a truck driver for Motor Freight Express of Hanover and York for 32 years, before retiring in 1977. A veteran of WWII, having served in the army, he was a member of Redeemerís United Church of Christ in Littlestown. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #321, the Fish and Game Club, and a V.F.W Social Member, all of Littlestown.

He was the husband, for 57 years, of Erma (Miller) Beard and, in addition to her, is survived by three sons, James L. Beard of Littlestown, Jeffrey L. Beard and Steven E. Beard, both of New Oxford; six brothers, Robert J. Beard and Francis L. Beard, both of New Oxford, Raymond L. Beard of York, Kenneth E. Beard of McSherrystown, Thomas E. Beard of Spring Grove, and Fred R. Beard of Baltimore; five sisters, Viola C. Haines of Taneytown, MD, Goldie A. Boyd of Littlestown, Shelby J. Forbes of Hanover, Shirley M. Bonner of Westminster, MD, and Helen L. Toporzychi of Baltimore; a step-sister; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Garrett; and four brothers, Simon H. Beard, Jr., Irvin Beard, William Beard, and John E. Beard.

Littlestown Allied Veterans Council conducted the flag presentation.
