Virginia Caroline's mother (Mary "Polly" Poteet Gilmore) was a sister to Mahala Poteet (b. 28 Nov. 1800 in Powell's Valley, Lee Co, VA; d. 11 May 1882 in Platte Township, Clay Co., MO) who married Charles D. McGee. They had a daughter Sarah Jane McGee who married Alfred G. Larimore; they in turn had a son, George C. Larimore. George visited with the Willis family and is listed on the 1880 U.S. Census for Douglas Co., OR with the family. George Larimore married Rachel E. Mee in Medford, Jackson Co., OR. George and Rachel had a son, James Newton Larimore, who is the father of this memorial's contributor, J.D. Larimore.
