James H. Pinkerton was the son of James Wyrick Pinkerton (1815-1869) and Eva Ann (Garber) Pinkerton (1830-1914), farmers who came to Adair County, Missouri, from Ohio.

James H.'s father James Y. Pinkerton, died of pneumonia before James H. was 2 years old.

James H. died in 1904 at the age of 34. His cause of death is unknown to this writer. He is buried at Mulberry Cemetery. Later, his mother and his sister Sarah Jane were buried beside him. James H. and his mother Eva share a headstone.
