The former Josephine Steffes was born February 9, 1896, in St. Joe, a daughter of Jacob and Gertrude Dietzen Steffes. She attended school at St. Joe. Her marriage to Alvis Brandt took place January 18, 1916, at St. Joe.
The couple lived in St. Anna after their marriage. Mr. Brandt died in 1974. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in St. Anna, the Christian Mothers Society and the Catholic Knights.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Roehrig, and a son, Roger, both of St. Anna; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
A great grandson, four sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
A funeral Mass was offered at St. Anne Catholic Church by the Rev. Thomas Hannah. Burial was in he parish cemetery.
