Lula Mae Hutcherson Shanklin, 78, of Latham, died June 5, 2004, at Paris Manor Nursing Home in Paris.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church in Latham with Bro. Bob Copeland officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Latham.

Steven Shanklin, Steve Shanklin, Paul Shanklin, Dickie Hutcherson, Paul Hutcherson and David Adkins served as pallbearers.

Joe Hutcherson and Buddy Joe Means served as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Shanklin was born in Weakley County, 13 Apr 1926, the daughter of the late Asa Clois Hutcherson and Onie Maye Mosley. She was a homemaker and attended New Hope Baptist Church in Latham. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son; Freddie Layne Shanklin, seven brothers; Cecil Hutcherson, Asa Buford Hutcherson, Elbert Hoyt Hutcherson, Roy Douglas Hutcherson, Gaither Dale Hutcherson, Herman Wade Hutcherson, Wayne Hutcherson, and one sister; Stella Mae Hutcherson.

Survivors include her husband; Neil Shanklin of Latham, two sons; James Barton Shanklin of Cedar City, Utah, and Frank Asa Shanklin of Dresden, a sister; Ruby Faye Hutcherson Sherwood of Olive Branch, Miss., a grandson; Steven Neil Shanklin of Dresden, and two great-grandchildren; Alexis Grace Shanklin and Sydney Claire Shanklin, both of Dresden.
