William Henry Tatkenhorst

William Henry* Tatkenhorst, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Tatkenhorst, was born March 1, 1958 [sic, should be 1858] in Bartholemy [sic] county, Ind., and was baptized on March 14 of that year. On March 24, 1872, he was confirmed and received as a communicant member of the Lutheran church. On April 15, 1880, he was united in marriage with Eliza Meier. This union was blessed with four daughters and two sons. In 1892 the family came to Lincoln county, Kan., and settled on a farm southeast of Lincoln. They became members of St. John Lutheran church in which Mr. Tatkenhorst remained a faithful member until his death which occurred on Oct. 11, 1947, after he had attained the age of 89 years, 7 months and 11 days. He was preceded in death by two of his daughters, Mrs. Martha Rosebrook and Emma Tatkenhorst, and by three brothers and three sisters. His departure is mourned by his grief-stricken widow, Mrs. Eliza Tatkenhorst, two daughters, Mrs. Henry Bolte and Mrs. Lena Wiegert; two sons, John and Ben Tatkenhorst; 10 [?]** grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

*He was baptized as Heinrich Wilhelm Tatkenhorst at St. John Lutheran, White Creek (Bartholomew county), Indiana and confirmed in the same church.
