Mrs. Elmer Rosebrook
Lincoln (KS) Sentinel-Republican, 12 June 1938

It has pleased the Lord of Life and death to call out of the vale of tears to Himself in heaven the soul of Martha Rosebrook, nee Tatkenhorst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Tatkenhorst.

Maria Martha Tatkenhorst was born February 7th in the year 1887, in Bartholomew county, Columbus, Indiana. On February 20th, 1887, she was received into the covenant of God's grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in the Evangelical Lutheran church at White Creek, Indiana.

In the year 1892, at the age of five, she moved with her parents to Lincoln (county), Kansas. Born of Christian parents she was reared in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, instructed in the chief doctrines of the word of God, and on March 31st, 1901, she was confirmed in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church at Lincoln, Kansas. For a number of years she was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran church at Shady Bend, Kansas.

On June 18th, 1905 she entered into the holy estate of matrimony with Elmer Rosebrook.

On May 25th, 1938, the Lord took her ransomed soul to Himself in heaven, after she had reached the age of 51 years, 3 months and 18 days. {of what appears to have been a brain aneurysm}

She leaves to mourn her sorrow-stricken husband, Elmer Rosebrook, her children, seven sons, Lawrence, Clarence, Paul, Oscar, Roy, Eugene who died in infancy and Douglas; one daughter, Myrtle, her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Tatkenhorst; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Bolte and Mrs. Herman Wiegert; two brothers, John Tatkenhorst and Ben Tatkenhorst; also three daughters-in-law, numberous relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in St. John's Lutheran church Saturday, May 28th, at 2:00 p.m. Interment was in Hammer cemetery. Her six living sons served as pall bearers.
