Spouse of Mary Araminta Owens. He was the father of 13 children, 11 of whom survived to adulthood. He was moved with his parents to Memphis, Scotland, MO about 1843 from Woodford Co., KY. William served as sheriff in Scotland Co. for a time. He helped organized the Christian Church in Memphis and was a lay minister. About 1875 he moved his family to CA then on to OR and by 1880 was living in Centerville, Klickitat, WA. William served as Klickitat Co. Representative to Washington Territory. He was one of the first elders in the Centerville Christian Church. William was a farmer by trade and also worked as a blacksmith. He died at the age of 73 years, 6 months, 30 days from septicemia (blood poisoning).
