Floyd Chapman Nash was the 6th of 7 children born to Darius Albert Nash, a farmer, and Idella Cynthia Ward, a teacher. His siblings were Albert Anson, Clarence Ward, Hattie Idell, Nellie Nettie, Jay Alvin and Bessie Effie Nash. All of the Nash children were born and raised in the Livermore, Iowa house their father built on a homestead he claimed after the Civil War ended.

Floyd met Leora Margaret Hamm, a singer in his church choir in Ames, and they were married on New Year's Eve of 1913 at her parent's home.

Floyd and Leora had 2 children, a son Delbert Anson Nash, and a daughter Norma Fern Nash.

When Floyd's father died, be brought his mother Idella along with his family to Los Angeles, California, where they lived and raised their children and saw all of their grandchildren born, a total of 6 girls! Floyd and Leora also had one grandson they never knew, but whom they would have loved if they had known him.

Floyd worked at a variety of occupations from mail carrier to auto mechanic, but his main occupation was as a carpenter and building contractor.

There have been many fond memories and stories passed down through his family about this charismatic, handsome and funny man.

He and Leora eventually moved to Long Beach, where he died at the age of 72. Although her name is not on the marker, Leora is buried here with Floyd.

NOTE: If you have reached this memorial via a link about F. C. Nash of Christmas Tree Lane, it is an error. Efforts have been made to have the link removed but have failed. The F. C. Nash in that case was Frederick C. Nash, not my Grandfather Floyd.
