Clarence was the 2nd of 7 children born to Darius Albert Nash and Idell Cynthia Ward.

At a young age, while still living at home, he taught school for 3 years. He then headed off to Iowa Agricultural College and was involved with the State Experiment Station in Manhattan, Kansas.

Clarence married an Elizabeth A., and it seems that there were no children.

Clarence died at the age of 56.
