Niles Reno Haslem, age 80, died August 14, 1991.
Born December 4, 1910, a son of John Henry and Florence Wagstaff Haslem. He married Jennie Marie Allred, November 28, 1932; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 16, 1933. He was very active in the LDS Church. He started in the construction business as a young boy and continued in this for most of his life, both in the public and the private sector. He was also a farmer and rancher.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie, Vernal; children: Mrs. Ronald (Nila) Batty; Norman and wife, Janna Haslem; Norma Shaw; David and wife, Barbara Haslem; Max and wife, Eileen Haslem, all of Vernal; Mrs. Charles (Flossie) Walker, Bountiful; Brent and wife, Joylene Haslem, Washington, Utah; 44 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Kenneth Haslem, Salt Lake City; Dean Haslem, Logan; sister, Mrs. Orvil (Helen) Wadley, Pleasant Grove; half-brothers and sisters, Acel Haslem; Mrs. Ed (Rhea) Lewis; Mrs. Marie Russon, all of Orem; Lynn Haslem, serving a LDS Mission at Hill Cumorah; Verl Haslem, Neola, Utah; Myron Haslem, Cedar View, Utah.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 17, 11 a.m. in the Ashley 2nd Ward Chapel. Friends may call Friday evening 7-9 p.m. at Thomson's Vernal Mortuary and Saturday one hour prior to services at the chapel. Burial, Vernal Memorial Park.
