Helen Haslem Wadley, our beautiful and loving mother and grandmother, passed away on August 4th, 2011; at the age of 98.

She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John H. and Flossie Haslem on August 2nd, 1913. Helen, at the age of five, along with her four brothers, lost their mother in the influenza epidemic of 1918. She was raised and loved by grandparents, aunts and eventually by a stepmother, Rebecca"with six new stepbrothers and stepsisters.

In the course of Helen's life, she fulfilled all of her mother's final wishes: To be baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to receive a good education, and to marry in a Latter-day Saint temple.

In 1942, she married Arvil W. Wadley, starting a romance that lasted 63 years until his death in March 2005. They were blessed with four children, a daughter and three sons, one of whom (Douglas) died from cancer at age 33.

Helen worked in Salt Lake City and in American Fork for the Alpine School District. She was the secretary at Central Elementary School, in Pleasant Grove, for many years. People still recognized her from their elementary schooldays right up until the time of her death.

Helen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions over the years. Her strong belief in the Plan of Happiness brought her great comfort; knowing that she would be met by her mother, her husband, her son and other loved ones when she passed away.

Out of all that she accomplished in her long life, Helen considered her family to be her greatest achievement. She was happiest when surrounded by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very much loved by them for hugs and kisses, for cards in the mail and for special treats.

She is preceded in death by her husband Arvil, her son Douglas, four brothers and one stepsister.

She is survived by three children: SueZann Kohler (Douglas), Stanley Wadley (Debbie), Sterling Wadley (Mary Jane); one daughter-in-law"Diane Nichols (John); 16 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren; four step brothers: Acel Haslem, Lynn Haslem, Verl Haslem, Myron Haslem; one stepsister"Marie Russon.
