BALLARD, FRANCIS L. "F. L.," 81, of Louisville, died Sunday, August 15, 2004, at Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville's inpatient unit at Norton Audubon Hospital. He was a native of Holy Cross, Ky., a retired employee of the Jefferson County government, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. He is survived by his brothers, Charles, Mearl and Walter Ballard; sisters, Clarice Mattingly and Pearl Downs; stepchildren, Debbie Higgs, Sherry Woosley, Susie Sneed and Mike and Joey McIntyre; stepgrandchildren, Robin, Mark and Leonard Adcock and Rhonda Roberts; and several great-grandchildren. His funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1406 E. Washington St., with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Neurath & Underwood Funeral Home, 725 E. Market St. (between Clay and Shelby St.). In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may go to Hospice of Louisville.
