LEBANON ENTERPRISE OBITUARY - 09/14/1978
Thomas Estel Ballard, 64, of Loretto, died Sunday, September 10, 1978 at 4:30 a.m. at his residence. He was born in Holy Cross, Sept. 25, 1913 where he farmed and was a carpenter. He was the son of the late Joseph Clarence and Mary Jessie Grant Ballard. Survivors include his wife, Earnett Mattingly Ballard; two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Sue Blair of New Hope and Judy Lynn Ballard at home; four sons, Randall Ballard of Nelsonville, Stanley Ballard of Loretto, Michael Ballard of Louisville, and Dan Ballard of New Hope; five sisters, Mrs. Irene McIntire of Louisville, Mrs. Annie Riggs of Jeffersontown, Mrs. Lenora Harrell, Mrs. Clarice Mattingly and Mrs. Pearl Downs, all of Bardstown; six brothers, Marcie Ballard of Holy Cross, Carmen, F. L., and Walter Ballard, all of Louisville, Mearl Ballard of Shepherdsville and Grant Ballard of Detroit, Michigan; and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, September 12, 1978 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi church with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Rev. Marvin C. Rolfes officiated. A prayer service was held Monday at 8:30 p.m. at the Mattingly Funeral Home. Pallbearers were his nephews, Marcie and Leon Mattingly, Michael McIntire, Kevin Ballard, Norman Riggs and Dennis Downs.
