CARPENTER - Ulysses S. R. Carpenter, a life-long resident of Jackson County, died at his home in Seymour Saturday morning, age 65 years. He had been ill of a complication of diseases for about four years.
Deceased was a son of Hezekiah and Pernicia McDonald Carpenter, was born in Vernon township, October 19, 1866. On February 22, 1888, he was married in Seymour to Louella Jordan, who survives him. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Besides his widow he leaves four children, Charles R. Carpenter, of Detroit, Michigan; Harold E. Carpenter, of North Vernon; Mrs. Sophia Alexander and Mrs. Eunice E. Ault, of Crothersville; eighteen grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Hollis Findley, of Beech Grove.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. A. A. Cohn, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating.
