Funeral services for Mattie Lou Hestand, 95, of Sweetwater will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Lamar Street Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Clifton and Rev. Jerry Payne officiating. Burial will be at Roscoe Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Visitation will be at McCoy Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 from 6-8 p.m.
She died on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, in Sweetwater.
She was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Cass County, Texas, She was married to Marlin Hestand on Sept. 11, 1933, in Snyder. She was a Baptist and loved listening to Christian music, visiting with people, cooking, sewing, gardening and her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Young and husband Sam of Sweetwater and Betty Nance and husband Edgar of Yuma, Ariz.; a son, David Hestand and wife Donna of LaJunta, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John Campbell of Sweetwater; a sister, Bertie Louis and husband Bill of Arlington; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Hestand, in 1999; a daughter, Margaret Baker and husband Don; a grandson, Dallas Ruminer; her parents, L.L. and Fannie Campbell; seven brothers; and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be Edgar Nance, Sam Young, Sr., Sam Young, Jr., Dale Finch, Jimmy Davis and Merrell Johnson.
