Dorothy L. Young passed away at her home in Sweetwater on October 22, 2014. She was 71 years old.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Lamar Street Baptist Church with Reverend Clay Jacobson and Reverend Billy Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery.
Dorothy was born in Roscoe on January 22, 1943 and lived in Roscoe and Sweetwater all of her life. She was a Flower Designer and had worked for Roscoe Flower and Gift Shop and the Flower Box. Dorothy was a member of the Lamar Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Husband, Sam Young, Sr. of Sweetwater; Sons, Sam Young, Jr. (wife Colette) of Joshua, TX, Brad Young (wife Sondra) of Kyle, TX; Brother, David Hestand (wife Donna) of LaJunta, CO; Brother-in-law, Edgar Nance of Yuma, AZ; Two Grandchildren, Brandon Williams of Joshua, TX and Danielle Williams of Rio Vista, TX; and three Great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marlin L. and Mattie Lou (Campbell) Hestand; her sisters, Margaret Baker and Betty Nance; a brother-in-law, Don Baker; and a nephew, Dallas Ruminer.
Pallbearers will be the deacons of Lamar Street Baptist Church.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
